Newsletter- December 2011

Dear Broderick's fans;

We had another great season, our second  as owners of Broderick's.

Thanks to all of you who came by to enjoy our ice cream treats. And we did have fun.

We kicked off the season April 2 and despite the rather damp start it was exciting.

May saw the introduction of home made chocolate dipped waffle cones and waffle sticks. These were a huge hit and we have them now as a regular menu item.Look for them next season as well.

The momentum built in June with our 27th birthday party with free birthday cake for all those who came in to help us celebrate.

On June 9 Broderick's was selected as the site for the engagement party of Chad and Amanda. What a lovely couple . We were thrilled to have them choose our shop to celebrate such a personal event.Check out the fab photos on our photo gallery tab.

 As if that wasn't exciting enough we hosted a wedding!! More than 20 guests attended the nuptials of Laura and Byron, all staged on the back patio of Broderick's on August 5.We met their families and friends and  we were honoured to have their wedding take place in our shop. More pictures on the gallery.We plan to make weddings a new feature for 2012.

Yogurt is a very popular product with our customers and on Aug. 4 we brought in a new Yogurt machine.Faster and better service is what we're after and this machine made it happen.Next time you're in the shop try a frozen  yogurt in a fresh, home made waffle cone, you'll love it!

July was also Port Stanley's biggest summer event, Canfest. Three days of summer fun , sun and good times .And were we busy! Broderick's is a destination for many Port Stanley visitors and the 3 day weekend saw us full to overflowing.

Check out the gallery for photos of our staff dinner party at GTs . We had a great team of girls this year and we wanted to say "thanks"for all their hard work and bright smiles.We couldn't do it without them.

September saw the introduction of chocolate coated pretzels and chips. Donna does these up on site and they are a big hit . Look for them again next season.

 Our customers are our life blood so on October 1 we celebrated our second Customer Appreciation Day with free sundaes. Great fun and everybody who came in enjoyed their free treat.

Finally, October 10, Thanksgiving, was our last day of the season and we went out with a big bang.The weather was great, the visitors to Port were many , we are very happy.

 With that,  Donna and I want to thank you all again for your patronage.We look forward with great anticipation  to another fun filled season in 2012.

All the best of this holiday  season and always remember what Peanuts once said: "Life is like an ice cream cone, you take it one lick at a time." smiley

 We closed our doors officially on Dec. 19 taking  advantage of the pre Christmas time and cool weather to introduce more delectable treats such as  Hot apple cider, French pressed coffee, Hot Chocolate and Belgian Waffles. The Fraktals chocolate was a hit too.

 Now that we're closed we're taking the opportunity to freshen up the place, new cupboards, counters and paint. Lots of paint. Should be nice.

Our 2011 opening is planned for April 2.

Newsletter - November 2010

Dear Broderick’s fans;

Welcome again to our newsletter, our second!

To begin where we left off, this, our first season as owners has been beyond our expectations, a great summer season. We have to thank all of you, our customers for making the trip to Port Stanley and taking the time to come in for an ice cream treat. Mother nature shone brightly on us… a summer to remember.

There were many highlights including the long weekends with May 24, July 1 and Canfest followed by Aug Civic Holiday, Labour Day and finally Thanksgiving.

These events coupled with the fabulous line up of live productions featured at the Port Stanley Festival Theatre generated record numbers.

 Donna and I took these opportunities to learn from our customers and expand our offerings including even more flavours, like Key Lime Pie, a favourite with many of you.

 The offerings grew with scrumptious hand made fresh Belgian Waffles, delicious and locally produced hot Apple Cider and delectable Hot Chocolate made from fresh milk and chocolate syrup. No powdered mix here!

This past week we introduced a brand new product which has already exceeded our sales expectations thanks to all you chocolate lovers out there.

 Fraktals spectacular chocolate cashew butter crunch [can you stand it???]comes in 3 package sizes including a Gift Box.

You can’t eat just one, they’re addictive.

 Sure, it’s not ice cream but it’s sweet and it’s good and people love it. Not everybody wants ice cream at this time of year and it makes a great gift. Also remember we do offer ice cream in bulk containers to take home.

 And don’t forget, we have 3 board games to help you enjoy your treats with us; Checkers, Snakes and Ladders and everybody’s favourite…Scrabble!

 Take a minute, take an hour. Relax in our 50’s style ice cream parlour.

 Halloween and Christmas will round out the major activities for this year and we will be open until just before Christmas.

 Check out this site, our store signs or call us for opening times.

 Thanks for reading this and check out the photos on the home page and the new Photo Gallery.

We look forward to seeing you back soon at Broderick’s Ice Cream Parlour celebrating 26 years in Port Stanley.

 Always remember… “Life is like and ice cream cone, you take it one lick at a time.” [Peanuts]

Newsletter - July 2010

Dear Broderick’s fans;

Welcome to the first Broderick’s Ice  Cream Parlour Newsletter. Why a newsletter you say… well, because we have lots to tell you!

You’ve already read a little bit about us on our home page, this was written back in April. Here it is mid July and we’re having a great time!

It is our wish, our passion, to continue the strong tradition that has made Broderick’s a destination for more than 25 years.

Our customers are coming from as close as right here in “Port” and as far away as Australia and Argentina, and these are repeat customers. They keep coming back for more. And more we have. Since we opened we have added a debit machine because you wanted it.  We’ve added more and more flavours of scrumptious ice cream like Cappuccino Extreme [one of my personal favourites], Saint Jacob’s Apple Pie [-sweet!], Crème Brule and Key Lime Pie.  Make sure to ask for a sample taste next time you’re in.  Donna has also added a delicious, handmade Belgian Waffle featuring a home made waffle, choice of ice cream, a sundae topping, whipped cream and a dusting of icing sugar.

We are also working to become “greener” with no Styrofoam, less plastic, and recycling wherever we can, especially the hundreds of ice cream tubs we empty every week!

For all the dog walkers, look for our watering dish just beside the front door. It helps to wash down the ice cream treat you may be sharing with your pet.

One constant has been our wonderful staff. Most of the girls are back for this season, some for the third and forth time. They are here to greet and serve every day, 11AM until 10 PM. That means all you theatergoers too! And on those really busy days rest assured that we are doing our best to make sure you’re served as quickly as humanly possible. We thank you for your patience.

Port Stanley is a beach resort town with numerous shops, restaurants, art galleries and a wonderful live theater.  To add to the attractions, most business owners are supporting the special event of “First Fridays”. On the first Friday of every month until Nov. 5 look for special art, music and food offerings. Many shops will be open late.

Speaking of events, wow, was the Port Stanley Can Fest ever a grand event!!!  Perfect weather for the four days, July 1 to 4,with an exciting mid way, great bands all over town, special offers and menus at numerous locations and tens of thousands of visitors, with nary a hitch with traffic.

Check out our home page for more pictures.

That’s about it for this newsletter. Thanks for taking the time to read it and remember what Peanuts once said; “Life is like an ice cream cone, you take it one lick at a time.”
